Text Box: Attending First Baptist Church is an inspiring and enjoyable experience for many people. Interesting, heart-warming, and spiritually stimulating things are frequently taking place. Often lives are changed. Our roots go back to at least 1827 when members petitioned to form a constitution and become a separate church. Jesse Mercer was called as the first pastor on January 20, 1828. Thirty-one pastors have served since that time. The church’s stated mission is to “Seek Him Constantly, Serve Him Faithfully, Share Him Boldly.”
